Picnic, shot 03, pencil test

Picnic, shot 02, blocking 01

Here’s the pencil test translated into 3D. It took me a while because somehow my squirrel rig lost all facial controls and blend shapes. Anyhoot… just time consuming… but here’s the result:

So, after some well thought out critiques, I’ve adjusted the animation to include the squirrel biting on a rock, testing to see if it’s food. Of course I’ll have to adjust the previous shot, but I think it adds a little more life to the shot.

So I made a mistake on my first pencil test. I drew my squirrel character a little too small, so when I brought him into 3D, the large character doing what the “little” character did just didn’t look right. Also, the first pencil test, was just that… me testing the 2D approach… really I was just trying to see if I could get the hang of drawing using my wacom tablet. Which apparently I can!! Anyway, I always envisioned the squirrel sniffing along the ground looking for food in shot one… so I came up with this new approach… HOWEVER… I still managed to drawing a little small, but I think I could actually make this work… we’ll see…
