Q: what’s the rule of thumb when a character is just standing still somewhere, say, punching his time card… are his legs perfectly straight? or do you ever let the knees bend a bit? or does it matter?
A: it really doesn’t matter. It really depends on what looks best depending on the scene, the character and his attitude. It might not be physically correct, but if it looks good, it doesn’t matter.
OK… so out of time and here’s the end result. Hope you like it. I realize that there are still a few issues… but hey, I’m still learning, but feel free to leave me any comments or critiques.
OK, this is my last “blocking” pass. I’ve addressed comments that came from different folks that I thought were very valid. I will stop “adjusting” major changes from this point on and will start focusing on smoothing out what I have now. See what you think.
So, after some input from some folks, I’ve done a new blocking pass with slightly different poses. I like the changes, I think they show a more appropriate attitude. Again, this is very much a WIP (work in progress) so take it as such. Just look at the overall.
So here’s a more advanced blocking pass. There’s a lot of work left to do. The hands, my arcs, a bit of timing, some modeling of the environment, but I’m pretty happy with where it’s at. I think anyone who sees it will get what’s going on… but you tell me.
