How to make a page a “sub-Blog”

I just figured out how to make one of my blog pages into a “sub-blog”. My definition of a sub-blog is a page that I can write posts for and have it separate from my main page, without having to create a whole new blog under my domain. You’ll need two plugins, Inline Posts and Ultimate Category Excluder.

The Inline Posts plugin allows you post “posts” in a new page by identifying the posts “ID” to that page. You do so by enclosing the ID within double brackets, like this [[nnn]], where n is the ID number. So, if you have multiple instances of this you’ll get, in essence, another blog, or sub-blog.

The Ultimate Category Excluder plugin does what it says, it excludes categories. It can exclude from the main front page, rss feeds and archives. Why is this useful? If you’re running a sub-blog, you may not want the post from that sub-blog to appear in your main one. They’ll appear as duplicates I guess. So to hide them or “exclude” them from the main page, use Ultimate Category Excluder.
