So I made another blocking pass with another piece of software called Pencil Check from ToonBoom. It’s a trial version… can you tell? Anyway, if you ignore the obvious “WATERMARK”, maybe you’ll see what I did.

So here’s my first attempt at blocking this shot the “Jason Ryan” way. It’s been difficult to draw shapes using the wacom tablet. Jason uses a Cintique, so it’s more like drawing like paper in that you’re drawing “on top” of your design. With the wacom, you draw down on your desk, but you have to look up to your monitor. Anyway, here’s my first pass at blocking.

Here’s reference video for my next project. In under 250 frames, I’m going to pantomime a character going from an attitude of “interest or focus” to an attitude of “panic.” What do you think?

I’m starting to follow Jason Ryan and his animation method. He uses a program called Flipbook. I’m trying to use an open source program called Pencil. Here’s my very first test called “jump”.
